Meet awesome people from all over the U.S. and around the world, on-the-air and in person at ham radio events. You can even talk through satellites or with astronauts on board the International Space Station.
LEARN NEW THINGS
Send messages even further when you learn Morse code. Learn how to communicate using many of the digital protocols available for amateur radio.
You can also investigate the many new combined radio-Internet communication techniques.
Have fun with a ham sport by becoming a signal sleuth, “Fox” hunt for hidden radio signals. You can even compete on the air for awards and fun, see if you can contact more people then others during QSO party contests.
PUT AMATEUR RADIO TO WORK
You can become a weather spotter and help your community prepare for weather events or support recovery efforts in emergencies. You can use your radio for community service! Provide communications for a bike race or a marathon.

Take ham radio along when you go hiking or camping. You’ll never be out of contact with ham radio! Reach longer distances with handheld ham radios then other types of radios in places where there is no cell phone service.

Learn how to build transceivers, and antennas. Write code to make new communication protocols. Learn the basics of electronics and then take it further. Learn the radio science that powers cell phones, Bluetooth and all of the hottest wireless technologies. Amateur radio is a great way to get started toward learning all the current communication technologies.
